Celebrating the Year of the Tiger

Celebrating the Year of the Tiger

It’s a couple of weeks into 2022, and we’re due for another festive occasion to keep the wind in our sails. Lucky for us, Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) is almost here! At Nest Designs, we love a good celebration, and we’re ready to welcome the Year of the Tiger.

What is the Year of the Tiger?

Lunar New Year changes each year ranging from late January to mid-February. It’s celebrated on the second new moon following the winter solstice (the shortest day of the year). This year, it happens to fall on February 1st.

The Chinese zodiac year is related to an animal sign according to a 12-year cycle. This year is the Year of the Tiger, a symbol of power, bravery, and strength. Any little bubs born in a Year of the Tiger are more inclined to be adventurous, ambitious, charming, generous, and confident…but perhaps also a little impetuous or rebellious too.

For those born in the Year of the Tiger, here are some things that may bring you luck this year:

  • The numbers 1, 3, and 4
  • Blue, grey, and orange colours
  • Yellow lily and cineraria flowers
  • East, north, and south directions

2022 Tiger Zodiac Series Prints

We’re feeling absolutely inspired by the Year of the Tiger – we can’t help it! In February, keep an eye out for our two new prints to commemorate and celebrate the year.

Thirsty Tiger features calming colours that highlight these giant cats as they wander to refreshing and abstract pools of water amidst scattered palm trees. With cool and agreeable colours and a clean design, this is a print that’s always stylish.

Jungle Stripes illustrates grown tigers frolicking, sitting, and parading about swaths of green. With subtle earthy and orange colours against a white background, this print is both playful and charming.

Share Good Wishes with a Red Envelope

Nest Designs Year of the Tiger

If you’re unfamiliar, there is a tradition at Lunar New Year to give the gift of a red envelope. These beautiful envelopes are filled with money to symbolize good wishes for the year ahead. In Chinese cultures, red symbolizes energy, happiness, good luck, and prosperity.

We love the joy this tradition brings, so we are giving away a package of 3 Nest Designs red envelopes with every order (while supplies last). Our customers can fill these envelopes and gift them to friends and loved ones during their celebrations.

Wishing You a Prosperous Year

Let’s celebrate the Year of the Tiger in style (and what better style than tiger print?). Lunar New Year is full of warmth, optimism, festivities, family and food. We hope the Year of the Tiger brings memorable moments for you and your loved ones.
